Yes; you want to make sure that you delete all files and offline files . The Windows CAC software works faster in my opinion.. The downside to the Windows CAC is that it doesnt have all the tools that ActivCard has.. (you really dont need them)

Can you more specific on what files and offline files need to be deleted? Thanks.

Delete offline files is an option for internet explorer 6 … here is how you delete all history

    1. Open internet explorer and click the Tools button > the select internet optipons ( or right click internet explorer on your desktop and select Internet Properties

    2. Once you reach properties menu you should be on the General Tab

    3. Go to – Browsing History and click > delete

    4. Scroll down under the Passwords section and select the delete all button ( this will delete all filles, offline files, cookies, history, – everything… )

    5. The delete browsing menu will pop up ( Make sure you check – Also delete files and settings stored by addons)

    6. Click Yes

All done…. restart internet explorer apply the settings I outlined in the tutorial above. and restart IE again.

make sure your certificates are imported into your system. are you using Windows 7 ? Also clear your ssl cache in the internet explorer options.

Try to delete all history coookies and files restart internet explorer and try again. Make sure you are selecting the correct certificate. If that error comes up again refresh the page and select your certificate again.

Thanks, it is great that we can finally not use it as removing unnecessary software is alway a positive thing to me.

I tried all the settings you suggested and couldn’t get it to work when it was previously working with ActiveClient 6.2. I reset my INTERNET OPTIONS, SECURITY tab to uncheck the ENABLE PROTECTED MODE. And with Protected Mode off, it again worked. I tried turning it back on and got it to work, but just like before, with Protected Mode On I cannot encrypt of digitally sign email.

Very important, I could not get your “https:/webmail.nmci.navy.mil/exhcange” link to work either. Got the same “The page requires a valid SSL Client Certificate” message. I used the link I have been using, “https://webmail.east.nmci.navy.mil/exhange”. Obviously depending on your domain in nmci, that may be different.

If anyone knows a fix for the protected mode issue that would be great. I don’t know if Protected Mode just prevents the browser from grabbing the CAC certificate.

One other point is that it does work under Windows 7 Home Premium too. I tried it on Ultimate and Home Premium and no difference on either machine.

You’re very welcome… We just want to help people who cant download the software, glad it worked for you. When we stated windows 7 we meant all versions, the tutorial is actually based on NMCI webmail access using Windows 7 Ultimate.

Protected Mode is optional but i has been proven to work. The webmail link i provided should be chosen with your regular dod certificate not your email certificate … i will revise the post our my method works 100% :)

When I click on “CAC Log in” button on NKO it asks me to choose my cert and then prompts me to enter my pin. After I enter my pin it goes back to the NKO login page and says “You are not registered for an NKO account. Please register prior to logging in.” If I use my username and password, I can login just fine and even navigate to BOL and check my PRIMS, IMR, etc. Any ideas?

You may have to check with NMCI about your certificates ,they may not be set up to log into certain web sites. I have seen this error before.. call NMCI help desk, only they can approve your certificates. If they cant help give us a holler.. but that sounds like a certificate issue.
